Gamers who use a ton of add-ons can attest to the fact that their ability to handle them progressively diminishes as the number of extensions rises. For this reason, many members of the gaming community rely on Curse Client for managing their add-ons. With the 7.0 version of the app that came up recently, it is really convenient to keep add-ons up to date. Curse Client scans the add-ons directory, locates information on existing upgrades and installs them automatically.
Another useful feature of the app is its ability to manage “install via Curse Client” links. However, the feature is not active when Curse Client is not launched.
Needless to say that the app is excellent at performing its primary function—helping a user to find and install add-ons. Fast and efficient management experience is achieved through the simple and hassle-free user interface.
It should be mentioned, however, that the app has some disadvantages that deteriorate the user experience. Probably the most annoying downside of Curse Client is its invasiveness. In addition to creating an icon in the menu bar, it starts every time user logs in. Furthermore, there are some reasons to believe that the app mines personal data without user consent, which is totally unacceptable. Another downside worth mentioning is the use of non-standard icons that can be confusing for some users.
The bottom line is that the add-on manager does the job of automatically updating add-ons beautifully, which is what matters the most for its users. If Curse Client coders get rid of the above-mentioned downsides of the manager in its following editions, there won’t be matches for the tool on the software market.
